My connections with people in my life have become a source of inspiration especially when there is a common interest as music; this is obvious in some of the larger and more adventurous works that mirror this art form in itself. Then there is my own inner emotional landscape that has in the past couple of years forced me to deal with change, this in turn has evoked a force greater then any thing I’ve ever had to face as a man and as an artist which in turn has influenced the abstract works that are part of the exhibit.

Having worked full time for the past 18 years as a visual artist has in itself created an artist who has matured in many ways, always discovering that in order to stay alive creatively one has to be constantly facing changes, along with excepting failure as part of success.

When one opens their mind without judgment to the world that is present, all of its elements become subjects for thought and possible subject for new creations.

Within in each of us is a curiosity, to embrace this, to connect with the energy of a place of another human being ,to allow ones own inner emotional landscape to open up to an endless array of possibilities, this is the true essence of my creative being.

Drawing With An Open Mind…

When I reflect back on the moments spent producing marks within the endless sketch books collected, I recognize a freedom to be truly creative in the moment – almost a form of meditation that reflects a self discipline, and an obvious faith in my own intuition at the time of these creations. This is mirrored in the energetic scribbles and slashes of colour that adorn the pages and in return represents the essence and energy of the subject at hand.

See Cape Breton through an artist’s eyes, its scenic beauty richly interpreted in the watercolour paintings of Kenny Boone. A native of Cape Breton, Kenny’s relationship with his surroundings is exquisitely captured in his subject matter that includes landscapes and seascapes as well as figurative work. With lush use of colour and extraordinary treatment of light, Kenny’s paintings have a stunning visual impact. Evocative and insightful, they also provide emotional fulfillment.
